Automated analysis has arrived in The HiVE with our new Analysis Assistant features, bringing text analysis tools driven by artificial intelligence. This release marks a critical milestone for the development of the product, helping you engage at scale and process large volumes of qualitative feedback.

To celebrate we're hosting a webinar on Wednesday, 7 October from 11- 11:30am (AEST) to overview the new analysis tools. Register your interest and join us on Zoom.

The release also includes the ability to associate member information with feedback data, filter contributions by demographic characteristics, support for Zoom Video Webinars, updated Banned Words and more.

Text analysis

Text analysis tools are now available within the Form tool, allowing you to manually tag and quantify open-ended responses in your surveys. These tools make it possible to provide succinct, visual summaries of text-based questions in your reporting.

Sentiment analysis

Using the new tools, sentiment classifications can be manually assigned to individual responses to categorise them as positive, negative, mixed and neutral based on the tone of the comment being made.

After assigning sentiment classifications to your individual responses, the results will be compiled in the Summary report, with a dynamic bar chart showing the sentiment breakdown for each text-based question.

Tag analysis

In addition to classifying sentiment, 'tags' can also be assigned to individual responses. Tags are free-form words or short phrases that can be used to associate key topics, themes, or other categories to a response.

Once tags are assigned to individual responses, a 'word cloud' visualisation can be generated in the Summary report - tags that are mentioned more will appear larger than those mentioned less. This lets you highlight key words and patterns in your data.

Featured responses

Another new feature we love is the ability to highlight individual responses in your report. This helps provide more context and depth to the sentiment and tag analysis by illuminating exemplary or insightful comments.

Using the tools

The text analysis tools can be accessed from the new ‘Analysis’ tab in the Form report, right next to the Data tab. In this section, you'll see a list of all open-ended responses collected in your Form, and can start assigning both sentiment and tag categories to your data.

Sentiment classifications and tags can also be filtered in this section so you can view, group and export similar responses.

Assisted analysis

What’s better than having text analysis tools built into The HiVE? Getting someone else, or in this case a machine, to do the analysis for you! We’re excited to launch our new Analysis Assistant (AA) which uses cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist you in the analysis of qualitative, text-based data.

The AA will automatically detect and classify the sentiment of each of your responses. Furthermore, it can identify named entities (such as people, places and things), key phrases, and the language, helping you see patterns and common themes in your data.

Once enabled, the AA will start processing your data for selected questions as it comes in, letting you get a sense of your feedback in real-time without conducting a full-scale manual analysis. This is particularly powerful when working with large or complex datasets, or when you have limited resources to undertake analysis from scratch.

You can decide which forms and individual questions to enable the AA for, to ensure you are not processing sensitive information, or wasting your usage on unimportant questions (like a name question).

Use of the AA is not free in all cases and may need to be purchased as an add-on to The HiVE. However, the great news is we’ve included the AA free in our Professional and Premium plans (up to certain usage limits).

Professional and Premium subscribers can use the AA to on up to 100,000 responses* per year free of charge. For Professional plans, this includes automatic sentiment detection with Premium plans also enjoying automatic language, key phrases and named entities identification.

Dynamic member data

As if the AI features weren’t exciting enough for one release, we’re also making it easier for you to make use of your member data. Member data will now be added directly to your feedback data so you can quickly see who said what without needing to manually join the two datasets together.

The member information you collect through your signup form will now be available in the data table in both the Form and Gather tools, and will be available in other participation tools in the near future. Member information will also appear in the data exports of these tools.

You can also now filter your contribution data by your member information such as gender, age or location to easily segment and group your data.

Link unpublished pages

We've been thrilled that our customers have started using sub-pages more often to add depth to their engagement and to create content-rich experiences for their participants.

While it was previously only possible to link published pages together, you can now select pages directly from the 'drafts' folder. This makes it easy to link and preview pages, and ensures that links will not break when the pages are published.

Zoom Integration

The Zoom integration with The HiVE now also supports Zoom Video Webinars allowing you to host webinars, stream events and more.

We have also added the ability to use the native Zoom chat functionality.

Updated Banned Words List

We’re expanding the default Banned Words list of The HiVE from 76 to 572 words to provide greater automated screening for profanity.

Data table improvements

We've made a small improvement to the data tables of the Form tool that changes the way long text appears in some cells. Hovering over cells containing long text will display an 'expand' icon which when clicked will open a new pop-up window containing the full text. This replaces the tool-tip which would show the full length response on hover.
