Form (Legacy) decommissioning

After a highly successful period of testing by our customers, the new version of the Form tool will be taken out of ‘beta’ testing, and will become the primary version of the Form tool. As a result, the old version of the Form tool will subsequently be retired.

Users will no longer see two versions of the Form tool in the Tools panel, and will no longer be able to add the Form (Legacy) version to a page. However, for old versions of the Form tool that already exist on your site, users will still be able to access the legacy version in order to make edits if required.

Thank you to all of our customers who helped with the testing process!

Password protected projects

Projects can now be protected with a generic password to limit user access to their pages. With this feature enabled, visitors to the protected project will be shown a basic authentication screen prompting them to enter the password.

This feature can be enabled in the HiVE Settings where you can set a unique password for each project.

It is recommended when using this feature to set the Project Type to Public, as enabling it when the Project Type is Private will require two separate forms of authentication.

Please note that anyone with the credentials will be able to access the project, so we strongly recommend you do not use this method where projects are highly confidential or there is a need to keep information safe and secure. Consult the documentation to see other risks associated with this method.

You will also need to communicate the password credentials separately (e.g. email, phone, etc).

Self moderation

Users will now have another option for content moderation with the ability to self-moderate. This option will disable The HiVE moderators, allowing you to act as the primary moderators for any content posted publicly through the Social Map, Visioner, Gather, Question & Answer, Conversation and Forum tools.

This will be beneficial for sensitive projects where information must be kept strictly confidential or in cases where you want greater control over the moderation process.

The wording of the moderation email notifications will also be tweaked to be clear in the context of this new moderation option.

Please note that by enabling this option Harvest will no longer have any responsibility for keeping your site clear and free of inappropriate content, and we will be unable to meet any service levels we may have agreed with you regarding moderation.

Editing improvements

Two minor but important changes have been made to the editing system to make the publishing process clearer and reduce the chance of accidentally publishing unwanted changes.

When editing a project’s details through the ‘Settings’ panel, there will now be two buttons for saving edits: ‘Save Changes’ and ‘Publish Changes’.

The ‘Save Changes’ button will allow you to create a new, unpublished version of the page with the updated attribute (e.g. an updated project url). The ‘Publish Changes’ button will act as it has in the past, not only saving any changes but also publishing them as a new version of the page.

This change makes the available functionality consistent with the saving options already available in the Projects → Project Settings area of the Dashboard.

The design of the Publishing Panel when working in draft pages has also been updated to de-emphasise the ‘Delete Draft’ button. This will make it clearer that this button functions differently then when the page is live, and will hopefully minimise people accidentally removing draft pages.

Ranking question reporting

We have updated the method used to calculate the ‘Score’ value for the Form tool’s ranking question. It now better considers the number of submissions collected when considering the ranking choices, therefore effectively weighting the results to ensure that outliers do not swing the score, especially for activities where not all options are required to be ranked.

The ‘Score’ will now be calculated by summing up the weight of each ranked position, multiplied by the response count for the position choice, divided by the total contributions of the question. Weights are applied in reverse. In other words, the respondent's most preferred choice (which they rank as #1) has the largest weight, and their least preferred choice (which they rank in the last position) has a weight of 1. The ‘Score’ will still be visualised in the chart. .

In addition to the new ‘Score’ calculation we are introducing a new column to display the ‘Average Rank’ of the choice. The ‘Average Rank’ is calculated by summing up the ranked position of the choice, multiplied by the response count for the position choice, divided by the ‘Count’ of the choice.

This change will be applied retroactively to all previous ranking questions, and results reports will be updated when the change is released.

Display of Social Map contributions

Users now have the ability to customise the text of the contribution counter in the Social Map display. This shows the number of contributions made to the Social Map activity.

You can also disable the display of the contribution counter completely, to keep this information confidential. This is particularly useful if you are not allowing the results of the Social Map to be publicly displayed.

Toggle 'status' on new Form tool

We've added a new configuration to the newest version of the Form tool to allow users to toggle the 'status' on or off. This gives users the flexibility to decide whether or not the Form displays the 'Open' or 'Closed' message, allowing for non-time dependent forms that may not have an end date, such as subscription forms.

Dashboard ‘Analytics’ decommissioning

The Analytics area of the Dashboard will finally be removed for users. The Reports area has been the primary place for reporting analytics for some time, with this section left in place for legacy purposes.

If you have any concerns over this, please speak to your Account Manager directly.
